Travis
Travis is an energetic young adult who enjoys sports (mainly football, baseball, and NASCAR) and spending time in the community with friends and family. His outgoing nature is quickly discovered by new acquaintances and he’ll quickly capture your phone number for a subsequent call or text. Surrounded by family and faith, Travis carves out his own version of normal and has to be reminded of his disability (cerebral palsy) and reliance upon a wheelchair. Time in the workshop painting or sanding bluebird houses fills any time that’s not already committed by daily interests and outings. His smartphone is his best friend but he completely understands it’s only a phone and can’t bring lasting relationships that he has come to cherish. Whether it’s singing Sweet Caroline in the 8th inning of the Red Sox home game, or commiserating with fellow Cowboys fans after losing in the first round of the playoffs, Travis cherishes relationships and engagements such as the many opportunities the Nest Academy of RVA offers.
Greg
Greg enjoys learning new things, like guitar playing. He enjoys being with people and is always eager to make new friends. Greg also loves to help his brother Jonathan who is also a Nest Academy student. She really enjoys the outdoors and the pool is a favorite spot for her during the summer. Through Nest Academy RVA, she recently discovered a love for rock climbing.
Eli
Eli classifies himself as an extravert who never misses an opportunity for fun! He is incredibly gifted in the field of Bible jokes, but he often can't get through telling the joke because he's laughing so hard trying to tell it. A typical day for Eli consists of him doing some of his zentangle art designs while he sings along to any genre of music that isn't heavy metal (which is NOT his favorite). Eli is always down for a conversation about Disney, cooking, or how the line between country and pop music is more blurred now than it ever has been. Eli has enjoyed exploring all of the different activities that Nest Academy has to offer and is looking forward to continuing with the program.

In Memory
Andrew
Andrew favorite number was one and his favorite color was yellow, Andrew had a zest for life that radiated like sunshine. He relished outdoor adventures, especially riding his golf cart through the neighborhood. Anything with wheels captivated Andrew’s attention, and he enjoyed exploring stores and dining out.
Curious George held a special place in Andrew’s heart as his favorite character. Football and racing kept him entertained, but his true joy lay in spending time with family and friends. Andrew’s infectious humor and love for people made every moment memorable.
Nest Academy, a weekly outing, was a highlight for Andrew. Socializing with peers was vital, and the class allowed him to showcase his skills. His face lit up with delight during these fun-filled sessions. When Andrew woke up each morning, he eagerly asked about the day’s plans—especially if it involved “Class at Nest Academy.”
Andrew’s enthusiasm was contagious, and his journey brightened the lives of those around him!
Reagan Fink
Reagan, one of Nest’s founding students, passed away in 2022 at the age of 16. Her infectious smile is sorely missed by all her Nest friends. Reagan’s sense of humor was unforgettable. She reveled in good jokes, listened to gossip, and playfully discussed “boy cooties.” Even on her toughest days, if someone let out a fart or a burp, she’d erupt into laughter. And when Reagan laughed, it was contagious—your stress would vanish. Sweet Reagan, you are deeply missed.
